Hi

Yes a lot of Scandinavians settled in that area. My grandfather Oscar Carlson of Petsmo, Korsholm FINLAND worked on ships on lake Michigan. He often spoke about Minnesota. I have relatives in ST Paul. They are actors in a Swedish museum, that is about the Scandinavian immigrants, after a series of books written by Wilhelm Moberg, and later made a musical by Björn Ulveaus and Benny Anderson ( Former ABBA) from Stockholm SWE. The musical is called "Kristina från Duvemåla." The fishersmen out onthe ice in this video clip are catching; Aborre, Gädda and Sik. You have to look those names up in a dictionary. They also may catch a Mört, but that villl go right back in the lake ..too bony to eat.

Nice hearing from the US on the blog. My wife and I lived a year in Florida 1996-7 while I grabbed myself a Private flight lisence.
